Lobby Coffee

A short story about waiting

“Are you going to drink that?”

“Sorry?”

“That coffee. You’ve been holding it for twenty minutes. Aren’t you going to drink it?”

His hands wrap loosely around a paper cup filled with a liquid that is ostensibly coffee. Steam rises in little swirls from the surface and dissipates into the stale lobby air.
